This is a fantastic opportunity for our whole school community to come together and celebrate. We are honored to announce that the event will be attended by the Sheriff of Southampton and representatives of the Polish Embassy, making this a truly special occasion for our city and school. Special Guests: Meet author Wojciech Filaber for a book signing. Cars & Sports: Check out the iconic Fiat 126p (Maluch), show and a showcase by the JAM Football Academy. Community Highlights: Local exhibitors, activities for both children and adults, and special performances by our very own St George School students. Whether you want to explore Polish culture for the first time or celebrate with friends and neighbors, we would love to see you there. Our Year 10 Geographers are busy working on their Bournemouth fieldwork write ups following a successful two days of data collection

ICT Issue: Update for Friday 24th April: The issue with no internet connection or network in school is linked to a faulty piece of hardware which is being replaced over the next few days. Therefore please can I ask that all students continue to bring a packed lunch or food for themselves tomorrow unless you have free school meals we will provide food for you at lunchtime. Please note the canteen is closed at breaktime. Please also remember to come into school in normal summer uniform or winter depending on your preference. Lessons are running as normal. The year 11 speaking exams are running as normal and i can confirm the year 11 photography exam is on Monday. We will have our normal AM registration but also a PM registration at 2pm till 2:10pm as you did today in your tutor bases. Buses are working as normal but a reminder there are no detentions afterschool and no clubs tomorrow. We will be back to normal on Monday. If you have any questions please ask. Happy St George's Day!! Our staff and students wore red and white today to raise money for the British Red Cross, our chosen charity by the Student Council. Pupils enjoyed St George Masses, the launch of the Student Planner cover competition, a treasure hunt as well as a staff football match. We managed to raise an impressive £864.26!

Pope Leo visited Bamenda! On Thursday, 16th of April, Pope Leo visited our sister diocese of Bamenda in Cameroon. While he was there, he met with dignitaries, then went on to St. Joseph's Cathedral. He completed his visit with an outdoor mass for 20,000 people. Pope Leo's main message was of peace and justice. He proclaimed, " I am here to proclaim peace, yet, I find that it is you who are proclaiming peace to me and to the entire world. " He then went on to say, " Your work for peace can be a model for the whole world." Pope Leo was referring to the efforts made by local faith leaders to work together for peace, Christians and Muslims alike. Dear all, We are currently experiencing issues with our IT systems in school, which means we do not have an internet connection. Unfortunately, this affects our cashless catering system, so students will not be able to purchase food on Thursday 23rd April and Friday 24th April 2026. I am sorry for the disruption this will cause but this is out of the schools control. We are doing everything we can to return to normal as soon as possible. Therefore, all students are asked to bring a packed lunch and snacks for both break and lunchtime over the next two days. Our kitchen will provide grab food for all Free School Meal pupils at lunchtime; however, please note that the canteen will be closed at break time on both days. EduLink is currently offline, but MS Teams is still available and working. Please can students check MS Teams regularly for any important updates. Please note the following changes for the next two days: There will be no after-school detentions on Thursday or Friday. An extension for all homework has been given until Monday 27th April 2026. Year 11 Speaking Exams will go ahead as normal on Thursday and Friday. Tutors will remind students of their times in the morning. The Year 11 GCSE Photography Exam has been postponed due to the need for IT access and will now take place on Monday 27th April and Tuesday 28th April 2026. The Year 8 football match vs Woodlands is still going ahead – good luck! All other after-school enrichment clubs are cancelled on Thursday and Friday. All lessons will take place as normal. Please note that Saint George's Day will go ahead as planned. We encourage everyone to wear red and white and bring £1 for our chosen charity, the Red Cross. Masses will also run as normal. To ensure all students are registered in the afternoon, we are making a slight change to the structure of the school day on Thursday and Friday: Lunch ends: 1:55pm Students return to tutor rooms for afternoon registration: 2:00pm Period 5 begins: 2:10pm School finishes: 3:00pm as normal School buses will run as normal. Our U16 girls competed in the Hampshire Cup Final at Henry Beaufort School, facing Kings School and delivered an outstanding 7–1 victory. The team were exceptional from the first whistle: confident, composed and determined to take control of the game. Having faced Kings in the past in the National Cup, with matches often decided by fine margins or penalties, this result makes the performance even more impressive. This is a fantastic achievement and a historic moment for the school our first time crowned Hampshire champions. Thank you to everyone who came along to support. It made a real difference to the team.

Meet the Governor: Richard Avery Richard knows St George Catholic College well as he is a former pupil, having attended when it was an all-boys' school in the 1980s. His daughters are also former pupils of the college. Professionally, Richard worked in Germany, London and Southampton, teaching Business English and English as a Foreign Language. He led seminars on English pronunciation, working internationally, and international culture for the Marcus Evans Group. Richard is a Foundation Governor, the Link Governor for Careers and the Personal Development Link Governor. He sits on the Catholic Life Group, the Curriculum Committee, the Admissions Committee, and is part of the Discipline Appeals Committee. In his spare time, Richard enjoys having the occasional flying lesson at Blackbushe Airport, practising his flying skills on his flight simulator, and writing apps for computers. Pupils and staff were all wearing purple today to raise awareness and funds for Crohn's & Colitis UK. A total of £839 was raised! We wish all of our staff, students and their families a Happy Easter!
