It's been a sea of blue today as staff and students have been standing up to bullying as part of Anti Bullying Week. Pupil's have attended student led assemblies and had tutor sessions around the theme of "Power for Good". All monies raised from today will go to Children in Need.

Thank you to our Year 10 student William for performing The Last Post as part of our Remembrance Day observance. His performance was a moving tribute, reminding us all of the importance of pausing to reflect and honour those who gave their lives in service to others.

Our talented Year 9 Design & Technology students have created this beautiful quilt to mark Remembrance. Each student designed and crafted their own quilted square, and some collaborated to add felt appliqué letters spelling out the word "remember", alongside hand-made poppies. For a first attempt at quilting completed in just three lessons this is a truly impressive achievement. We are very proud of their creativity, teamwork, and dedication in producing such a thoughtful piece to help us remember those who are no longer with us.

Anti-Bullying Week 2025 – "Power for Good" At Saint George Catholic College, we stand together against bullying in all its forms physical, verbal, emotional, and online. Bullying is the repetitive and intentional hurting of one person or group by another, often involving an imbalance of power. Our goal is to raise awareness, educate, and empower every member of our community to make a positive difference. This year's theme, "Power for Good," reminds us that each of us has the power to stand up, speak out, and show kindness every day. On Monday 10 November, we were honoured to welcome Libby Whitehouse, singer and advocate, who delivered a powerful talk inspiring our students to use their voices for good and to support one another. To continue showing our support, Friday will be our Non-Uniform "Wear Blue Day" a visible way to stand against bullying and promote kindness. Students are invited to wear something blue and bring a £1 donation to help raise funds for anti-bullying initiatives. "Words hurt. Choose yours wisely." This afternoon our History Club had the pleasure of welcoming Professor Mark Stoyle from the University of Southampton. Professor Stoyle spoke to our students about his journey as a historian, shared insights into studying History beyond school, and explored the many fascinating careers a History degree can open up. He even brought along a special historical object to inspire curiosity and discussion! Extracurricular activities for Autumn Term B 2025-26

The Friends of St George are holding their annual quiz night on Thursday 20th November at 7pm. Tickets will be £5 per adult and £3 for children which includes a glass of wine or a soft drink.

Meet the Governors! Fr Anthony Chiatu Fr Anthony Chiatu is both a Foundation Governor and our Priest Governor, serving the St George Catholic College community through his ministry as parish priest at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Portswoodour school's parish church. Originally from the Diocese of Bamenda, our sister diocese in Cameroon, Fr. Anthony brings valuable experience from his time as a head teacher of a secondary school there. His passion for education continues here in Southampton, where he is currently studying for a postgraduate qualification in Special Educational Needs at the University of Southampton. Fr Anthony's family has strong links to the local Catholic community. His brother, Emmanuel, serves as a deacon at St Edward's Church in Chandler's Ford, and his nephew is a student in Year 8 at St George'sgiving Fr Anthony both a pastoral and personal connection to our College. We're grateful for Fr Anthony's spiritual guidance, international perspective, and deep commitment to the development of all our students.

Year 9 Girls went to Wide Lane Sports Ground on the 21st October, to compete in the U14 Southampton School netball tournament. This team won the Southampton league in year 7, and unfortunately missed out last year on keeping their title by 2 goals. Last night, the girls dominated, and secured their 1st place gold medals, and regained their U14 Southampton League Netball Champions being UNBEATEN against 9 other schools across the city; despite the awful weather.
