Artist and Easel Sculpture Pavement Art

Our Art students are taught in a progressive manner with targets set on an individual basis. We actively encourage independent thinking and problem solving and strive for individual creativity. There is no house style and our staff are encouraged to contribute their individual skills to the character and work of the department. As a consequence, we create an environment that is forward thinking and adaptable to the needs of the contemporary education and art worlds.
At Key Stage 3 pupils follow a broad, fine art curriculum that covers drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture (including ceramics) and contextual studies. At Key Stage 4, all students follow the AQA syllabus for Art & Design. The course is structured to allow students to work to their individual strengths, while underpinning their performance with sound technical skills and a developing cultural and critical understanding.
Students are required to build a body of work that includes sketchbooks as coursework. They have two coursework projects to complete (60%) and an externally set assignment with a 10 hour exam (worth 40% and undertaken over two days).
