A Message From Charles Marchetti, Chair of Governors

We start our new College year for 2017/18 with new Senior Leadership following the appointment of James Habberley and Lyn Bourne as Head of School and Executive Headteacher respectively.
Mr Habberley started at St George some thirteen years ago, promoted to Deputy Head in 2014.
Miss Bourne’s appointment has come about through our vision for Catholic education in Southampton where we have entered into a partnership alliance with St Anne’s Catholic School & Sixth Form College. She comes to us with the wealth of experience as Headteacher of this outstanding school which has consistently demonstrated its ability to outperform all other schools in Southampton.
St George is an “Outstanding Catholic School” as recently classified at our inspection in June 2017. We have also been graded outstanding during the annual inspection by the Local Authority Education Department and are well prepared for their visit this year scheduled for 22nd November.

We also start this College year with recent GCSE results our best ever and, with St Anne’s, are the best two schools in Southampton.
Based upon current results classifications, St George is also on course to be ranked in the top 2% nationally, with a progress 8 score of +0.59 for the last 2 years.

Whilst I would congratulate our Leadership Team and all staff for this achievement, there will be no complacency but continued encouragement and support in order that this momentum will be continued.

I am always happy to hear from all parents, pupils and staff. Please contact me at chalresamarchetti@gmail.com or through the college office.
